The vision of the visionary, Pastor Gene Johnson was birth unbeknownst to him many years ago.  As the Potter began to mold the clay, the Potter in preparation for his ministry equipped him to be one of compassion, integrity, and humility.  Pastor Johnson received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Bishop David Allen Sr. of the Christ Temple Apostolic Church in Houston, Texas.

At Christ Temple Pastor Johnson served in many facets of ministry faithfully.  His passion was outreach and there he became overseer of the street ministry.  He also diligently served in prison ministry, established a food pantry and ministered at the Crocket Boys Reform School for troubled boys.  Out of great compassion  for ministry and a need to see young men not aspire like  he did in a life of drugs and alcohol abuse, Pastor Johnson became a foster parent for "high risk" teenage boys.

In July 1997 Pastor Johnson ,along with his wife Lady Gail and his son Terance was released by the Holy Spirit to become Pastor of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  Through out his eight years of ministering at Pleasant Hill, Pastor Johnson has seen many blessed and transformed both in mind and spirit.  In the seventh year of the ministry God divinely allowed the first part of the ministry, the building of a new edifice, Phase one of the vision.

The church is currently seeking direction for Phase II of the vision, "The desire of his heart" a transistional center for women in need of hope. This center will transform the lives of hurting and abused women of all colors and creed.

Phase III, "Manna Ministries “ will be for low income housing for struggling families who are in need of a helping hand.  A ministry designed to encourage people to trust God day by day, to walk by faith and not by sight.

Phase IV, "Total man" will be birth consisting of housing for men who are broken.  This ministry will assist men who have left prison and find themselves caught in a cycle due to lack of support.  Those addicted to drugs and alcohol will also be ministered to and welcomed into the ministry.  The philosophy of the men's ministry will be to first give a man a fish and then give him a fishing pole to teach him to fish for himself.

As God continues to add to the vision, the visionary will yield to the call, wait for the vision knowing that the vision is for an appointed time, and in the end it shall speak and shall not lie.
